#6921 $1,200
Handmade mixed lace boudoir throw, c.1900
Antique handmade lace accessories smooth the jagged edges of frazzled modern lives. The superb piece of needle art is a reminder from an earlier era when there was time to make one-of-a-kind creations by hand.
The cream-colored throw is a potpourri of the best needle arts. The center medallion of handmade bobbin lace portrays a lady and gentleman in a garden. The panel is surrounded with a larger medallion of fine batiste hand-embroidered with padded satin-stitch flowers.
As the eye moves outward, it encounters an harmonious collection of hand-assembled tape lace, Brussels bobbin lace, and Cluny lace as well as fine embroidery.
Here is an object d'art for the connoisseur to enjoy. Antique lace also makes an exquisite, tasteful wedding gift.
The condition is excellent.
It measures: 46" wide by 57" long.
